How did we start?
Craig felt privileged – yes even with a brain tumour – that he was afforded a great medical team. He saw others weren’t in the same boat so probably about 5 months from diagnosis he decided he wanted to help raise funds and awareness for Brain Cancer. Over the next 7 years he held multiple events raising over $50,000.
The aggressive nature of the tumour meant the medical team went in with all guns blazing. Craig did chemotherapy for 6 years straight – every month. It was tough but he knew it was better than the alternative. To try and cope, he used running as his release.
The year of diagnosis he was due to complete his first marathon having completed many half marathons the years prior. But this bucket list item had to be put on hold for surgery but he was determined to get there one day. In 2017 against all odds and whilst doing chemo – he completed a marathon. Amazing effort.
Craig passed away February 26th 2020 but we will continue his vision through his charity All in the mind .. A Craig Hannam Foundation.
